Registration, Admissions, Funding and Paid Places
Stoneyholme Nursery School is a Lancashire County Council maintained community Nursery School providing high quality early years education for two, three and four year old children. The admission arrangements are determined by the local authority. Children usually start coming to school the term after their second or third birthday in either January, April or September.
Parents are welcome to register their child at Stoneyholme Nursery School as soon as they are born. To register and apply for a place for your child, please telephone the School Office (01282 454473) and we will talk you through the process of applying for a place.
3 to 4 year old Early Education Funding (EEF) - 15 hours early education for each of the school terms for eligible children
All 3 year old children can have a free 15 hour early years education place here at Stoneyholme Nursery School from the term after their 3rd birthday. This is called the Early Education Funding (EEF) and it is paid for by the government.
How to apply for a funded 15 hour Early Education place: To apply for a free 15 hour Nursery School education place please call into the School office or call us on e on 01282 4544473.
30 hours free education and childcare for eligible 2, 3 to 4 year olds
Some families are eligible for 30 hours Early Education under the government's working families initiative. To find out if you are eligible and to apply for the free 30 hour funding take a look at Childcare and Family Support on Lancashire County Council's website
How to apply for a 30 hour Nursery School place at Stoneyholme Nursery School: Please ask for an application form from the School Office. Please complete it (include your 11 digit eligibility code and the national insurance number of the parent who applied for the funding) and return it to the School Office along with a completed Stoneyholme Nursery School application form and your child's original birth certificate.
We usually offer either 5 mornings or 5 afternoons for children eligible for the free 15 hours Early Education Funding and a combination of both sessions for children who are eligible for 30 hour Funding. Please see School Sessions and Charges 2025-2026 attached below.

From the term after your child turns 2 years old, they might be able to have a free 15 hour early education place here at Stoneyholme Nursery School. This is called Early Education Funding (EEF) and it is paid for by the government. For more information about free 2 year old funding please look at Funded childcare for 2 year olds on Lancashire County Council's website.
How to apply for funded 15 hour Early Education: To claim a free Nursery School education place you will need to check if you are eligible. You can do this by using the Lancashire County Council (LCC) online checker or you can telephone 0300 123 6712. If you are eligible, Lancashire County Council will send you a confirmation email or letter. Please complete our Stoneyholme Nursery School Application Form and bring it in to the School Office along with your free nursery education eligibility letter and your child's original birth certificate.
Please note that if your 2 year old child is not eligible for Early Education Funding, we encourage you to take up a place which can be paid for. Please see our Sessions and Charges for 2025-26 below.
Paid Places
We offer Education places from a child's 2nd birthday which can be paid for prior to any funding they maybe entitled to the term after they turn 2 or 3 year old. This is offered as a minimum of 2 mornings or afternoon sessions. Full time places are available. 2, 3 and 4 year olds eligible 15 hours Early Education Funding can pay for additional sessions.
